Joint Exhibition with Janetta Kerr-Grant: Ok Violet, Brunswick East, Vic
Fieldwork, showing at OK Violet in Brunswick East, Vic. from 14- 28 Nov 2026, comes from a meeting between two artists living far apart, which became weekly online chats and a beautiful creative connection.
Over more than twelve months Janetta Kerr-Grant and I have talked about the places and processes that drive our work, the events that shifted our worlds, and the places that sustain us. We have brought together this exhibition to celebrate the unexpected friendships, between women and between the human and more-than-human worlds of our neighbourhoods, that grow through time, care and noticing.
We shared stories of the natural places close to home, where we walk and explore, and while we live 700km apart we found these places appear in our work in ways that spoke to each other. And so this exhibition was born of that connection to people and place.
I have been exploring the contours of this new suburb I now live, and the endangered Box Gum Woodland Murrumbidgee River corridor it sits beside, through research, walking, sketching, sensing, tending and collecting. This body of work reflects a process of making kin with a place full of granite outcrops, majestic Yellow Box gum trees and new house builds. On my walks I have collected clay and rocks, building waste such as clay brick, timber and sandstone. Some of these have become part of the work as both form, and as material.
