I Like Things a Bit Gritty: 2025

Solo exhibition: Gallery Alchemy, Milton NSW

I Like Things a Bit Gritty is a collection of pieces which individually and together explore the many messy ways I experience and feel at home in suburban/town spaces. Using walking and muddy material play I explore these new surroundings. I seek out the odd, gritty, untidy things. Bit by bit a place will start to imprint itself, become part of my knowing, street by street, tree by tree, line by line. With each exploration I find more moments of delight, and gradually I can care about and for this place.

The work is a response to moving to a new outer suburban area, from a rural village.  From a 160 year old house with no straight lines, to a 160 hour old house with no crooked lines at all.
